Sherlock Holmes swaps the gaslight and hansom cabs of the Victorian era for the 21st century’s mobile phones and iPods, in this edgy new crime drama from Doctor Who writers Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss.
Dr John Watson (Martin Freeman) returns from the Afghanistan war a directionless lost soul; a chance encounter brings him into the orbit of Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch), an intellectual genius and ‘consulting detective’ who solves crimes for his own amusement.
Together, the pair of them take on the mysteries that have confounded the police, leaving the likes of Inspector Lestrade (Rupert Graves) baffled.
Sherlock is out now on DVD (priced £19.99) and Blu-ray (priced £24.99), featuring all three episodes of the BBC series, plus audio commentaries and a making-of documentary.
